How do you express yourself?

So.. I've been pretty busy with classes, work, and schoolwork for each of those classes. One of my classes is Aesthetics which has provoked many new thoughts and questions. We recently learned about the difference between art and craft, and why. But what really struck a cord with me was about expression. The fact that most people aren't truly aware or conscious of what emotions they are feeling, much less able to express it, is absolutely fascinating. Particularly because I have dealt with this a lot my entire life. Feeling something and not understanding or knowing what it is, or what to do about it. I have noticed this especially with my art. I've seen several artists express themselves in their art, whether it's their emotions, ideas, or beliefs. I don't know how to do any of that and it drives me bonkers. I can feel a certain way and want to get it out, to express it on paper, but my hand never moves and my mind remains blank. I also thought it was incredibly interesting that expression is more or less a process the artist takes to discover WHAT the emotion they are feeling is. But how does one even start? Maybe I am thinking about this too much, but I just don't understand. I feel like all I can do is copy what I see, not create new things from myself.

What are your thoughts on this? How do you express yourself in your work?

Much of what I do is photography, but I still enjoy my drawing so I try to do that as well :) I've done some modeling as well but I think I'd rather be the photographer. A lot of people say that the model should be the one with the ideas and poses for an image, but I don't agree with that. The photographer is the one who can see the potential of the image, not the model. I'm of course not saying that the model doesn't do much. Many do have great ideas that help out photographers that are unable to see the potential photos. As you may also notice, much of my photography is landscapes, although I do enjoy taking candid shots :) I don't use a fancy camera, just an Olympus FE-20 but I do my best to capture the beauty I see!

I enjoy a multitude of things ranging from writing to video games, to traveling and experiencing new things. I also adore pretty things. It can be shiny, pretty, colorful, you name it; I'll like it. Due to the amount of things I love to do, want to do, and need to do, actually presenting results has been lacking. However, I intend to change that :) You can't get better if you don't practice!
I'm quite friendly really so if you have any questions, comments, or anything of the sort you can feel free to message me or leave a comment :)

On an additional note. Most cases, I will make my images available as Print as well. Not sure how often Prints are purchased on here, but if anyone would like something specific made available as print or in a certain way, please do not hesitate to ask :)

Last Note: I do have a Facebook account which is here:… (If you plan on sending me a friend request, please apply a note so I know who you are!)

Hey there. I use things to edit my photos to make them look more appealing since it seems to be rare for a RAW photo to look " Omg amazing :o " Or rather, they look even better with edits! I created this area here to credit the dA users I have used curves/actions/etc for my images so that you all may go and find them and use them yourself as well! :D
